Nur Acar Göçgil, MD, PROF, FEBO, is currently working in her private clinic in Istanbul, Turkey. Dr. Acar is an internationally recognized vitreoretinal (VR) surgeon, and a member of EVRS, TOS, ASRS, AAO, and Euretina. She has been an active member of “Medical Retina” and “Vitreoretinal Surgery” Subdivisions of Turkish Ophthalmology Society (TOS) for 20 years. She has been elected to be a board member of “VR Surgery” Subdivision for 4 years. She also worked as a member in executive board in Istanbul Branch of Turkish Ophthalmology Society. She is serving as a member of executive board of the European VitreoRetinal Society. Dr. Acar Gocgil has an active clinical and academic practice. Her main professional concentrations are Vitreoretinal Surgery, and Retinal diseases. She has always been interested in innovations in ophthalmology. She has authored and co-authored 70 peer-reviewed papers and 5 book chapters, given 140 international and 240 national presentations. She has been awarded for the best surgical videos by Turkish Ophthalmology, and European VitreoRetinal Societies. She has performed the first surgeries with the Argus II epiretinal implant system in RP patients in Turkey. Dr. Acar Gocgil graduated from Istanbul University School of Medicine in English in 1996, and completed her residency at Marmara University in Istanbul. She worked at Beyoglu Eye Education and Research Hospital between 2002–2012 primarily in the Vitreoretinal Surgery and Medical Retina Departments as a consultant, investigator, and an instructor. She became an Associate Professor in Ophthalmology in 2010. She worked as a Professor in Ophthalmology in Acıbadem University School of Medicine between 2016–2022 in Istanbul, Turkey, followed by Yeniyuzyıl University School of Medicine between 2022–2024.
