Artunay Özgür
Prof. Dr. Özgür Artunay, MD, is a Professor of Ophthalmology at the Health Sciences University (SBU), Beyoğlu Eye Training and Research Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey. He received his medical degree from Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1996 and completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul University, in 2001.
He has previously held academic and clinical positions at Istanbul Bilim University (Florence Nightingale Hospital), Bezmialem Vakıf University, Biruni University Medicine Hospital, and Haydarpaşa Numune Hospital. He was appointed Associate Professor in 2011 and promoted to Full Professor in 2017.
He is the founding Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at SBU International Faculty of Medicine and currently serves as the Institutional Education Coordinator and Head of the Retina Unit at Beyoğlu Eye Training and Research Hospital.
He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications in national and international journals and has been an invited speaker at numerous national and international ophthalmology congresses. He is an active member of the Turkish Ophthalmological Society, serving as a board member of the Vitreoretinal Surgery Unit and a member of the Medical Retina Unit. He is also a member of EURETINA.
His main clinical and research interests include complex vitreoretinal surgery, pediatric vitreoretinal disorders, retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, and advanced surgical management of macular diseases.
